Automatic Batching for Compounding
Sterling, IL – Immediate Release: Sterling Systems & Controls, Inc. is pleased to announce it has custom-engineered and manufactured an automatic batching system for the ingredient batching of the rubber compounding process. A hybrid ingredient bulk material batching system combines minor bin and bulk bag ingredient batching, providing automatic batching for a rubber manufacturing compound. This automatic batching system successfully replaces the unproductive, slower, and labor-intensive manual batching process with a more profitable, efficient, fast, and accurate automated system.
The minor ingredient batching system is customizable and can be configured with virtually any bins and/or bulk bag stations. In one rubber compounding application, the compounder uses a Sterling Systems automatic batching system with 10 Ingredients (7 bins and 3 bulk bags) that directly feed batch containers. Each batch is weighed via a gain-in-weight system on the systems’ roller conveyor. Further customization of the automatic batching system provided by Sterling Systems includes a dust collection system for dust control during the automatic ingredient batching. The overall system also includes a pallet platform, a stairway to gain access to the work and pallet platform, and a rolling stairway to gain access to untie the bulk bag ingredients.
Controls for the Sterling automatic batching system include a PLC control panel, a PC enclosure with an industrial grade PC, a panel-mounted 17” flat screen monitor, a NEMA12 keyboard, and a smart uninterruptable power supply (UPS). Sterling Systems’ custom batching control software provided is easy to use, has virtually unlimited storage of formulas and ingredients, lot tracking and traceability, batch validation and much more.
Sterling Systems & Control also included its WebCentral supervisory control application. WebCentral is a browser-based application that allows you to access the database of a Sterling Systems batching control system application without the need for any software to be installed on the remote PC’s.
